Vercel has put a continuous integration service into beta that reruns only the checks a code change affects, aimed at teams whose coding agents push code faster than pipelines can verify it. Vercel announced Vercel CI on its blog.
The company’s complaint is that most CI systems rerun everything on each push, so every extra agent-written pull request lengthens the queue. Vercel CI reads a project’s Turborepo configuration, works out which tasks depend on the changed files, pulls unchanged results from cache, and runs the rest on separate machines. Vercel says its own pipeline now gets from push to a passing build two to six times faster than before, and that the service has finished nearly 8 million tasks across its repositories and the private beta. Both figures are Vercel’s own.
Setup means tagging tasks with “ci” in turbo.json. Results appear as a GitHub check, so existing branch protection still blocks failing merges. Vercel lists observability, running CI from the command line before a push, and finer test selection as next.
Teams already on Turborepo have the shortest path to testing that speedup, since the config the service reads is already in their repo.
