OpenAI’s ChatGPT account announced on X on September 11 that ChatGPT Sites, the tool for building and hosting interactive web apps inside ChatGPT, now supports two features users had been asking for: building a site together with others, and sharing a site privately rather than publishing it openly.
The company said more than 5 million sites have been created since the feature launched three months earlier. That figure is OpenAI’s own and measures sites created, not sites that are live, maintained, or actually visited: a site built once in a chat session counts the same as one running in production.

For teams evaluating ChatGPT Sites as a lightweight prototyping tool, collaboration and private-link sharing close two gaps that pushed early testers toward standalone hosting.
