Google is testing a Gemini Enterprise feature called Rooms, according to TestingCatalog, which found references to it inside recent app builds. The feature remains an internal prototype, and Google has not indicated when, or whether, it will ship publicly.
A Room would be a shared workspace for a team and Gemini, organised around a single objective. It holds a stated goal, a set of connected files acting as its knowledge base, and a “playbook” laying out the way Gemini is meant to behave inside it. Members could add files, hold group conversations, and message Gemini directly inside the same space, according to the outlet’s reporting.
The design overlaps with Projects, the shared human-and-agent workspace Google introduced publicly at Cloud Next 2026, which already pulls in sources from Google Workspace, Microsoft OneDrive, NotebookLM, and team chats. TestingCatalog reports that Rooms appears to extend that model with an explicit goal and operating instructions rather than just shared context.
Whether Rooms will replace Projects, sit alongside it, or never ship at all is unclear. So is any release timeline, pricing, or list of supported data sources, none of which TestingCatalog’s reporting includes.
