Shamez Hemani has joined Anthropic’s technical staff, according to a LinkedIn post he published announcing the move. His OpenAI tenure ran close to two and a half years on the Stargate compute and infrastructure group, the group tasked with standing up gigawatts of capacity for the company’s research and product work.
Hemani left OpenAI in April as part of a wider staff reshuffle, joining Meta’s newly formed dedicated compute unit alongside fellow Stargate figure Peter Hoeschele. He lasted five months there before moving on. Hoeschele remains at Meta.
Anthropic has been building out its own data center organization while striking a run of infrastructure agreements: a $35 billion cloud deal with Lambda, $45 billion with Nscale, $19 billion with TeraWulf, and a joint venture called Theseus Infrastructure with GIC and Macquarie. The company is separately in talks to lease compute from Meta.
