Gemini Notebook, Google’s tool for working from your own documents, will now show you a draft plan for a slide deck or video overview before it produces either one. Google announced the change in a blog post dated 19 October 2026.

The sequence is short. You ask in chat, Notebook proposes topics drawn from your sources, and you confirm. A new Review toggle then exposes the plan: “Review outline notes” for slides, “Review producer notes” for video. You can ask for an executive summary up front or a reordered scene, then select “Proceed.” Leave the toggle off and the old one-shot generation still runs.

Slides and video overviews are not new to Notebook. The checkpoint is. Google says the change came “based on your feedback,” and it also concedes something: going from a single prompt straight to a finished file is a poor fit for material a person must stand behind and present.

Google says every Gemini Notebook user worldwide will get it “over the upcoming week.”

Expect the review step, not the first draft, to become where Notebook users spend their time.
