Cognition, the maker of the autonomous coding agent Devin, announced it has acquired TierZero, a startup founded by Anhang and Yun. The company said TierZero’s team has focused on automating the work that keeps software running after deployment: catching incidents early and keeping systems healthy over time. Cognition plans to fold that automation work into Devin, extending the agent’s reach from writing code into operating it once shipped. No financial terms, headcount, or product timeline were disclosed in the announcement.
The acquisition follows Cognition’s roughly $1 billion raise earlier this year and a string of deals, part of a broader pattern of coding-agent vendors buying niche automation teams to widen their platforms rather than compete purely on model quality. For engineering teams evaluating Devin against rivals like GitHub Copilot Workspace or Replit’s agents, incident response is now a stated roadmap item worth tracking as it ships.
