Anthropic and Nscale, the AI infrastructure provider, are reportedly close to announcing a second $45 billion deal for computing power. Nothing has been announced. TechCrunch, relaying a Bloomberg report that cites people familiar with the matter, wrote Monday that those people cautioned talks continue and details could change. Neither company had replied to TechCrunch when it published.
The first $45 billion agreement between the pair was announced roughly a month ago.
The numbers sit awkwardly together. Bloomberg also reported Monday that Nscale faces investor pushback on its proposed $30 billion valuation as it pursues a stock market listing. If the new deal goes through, one commitment would exceed the whole company value those investors are resisting. The source links neither story to the other, and neither do we. Anthropic is still expected to list this year.
TechCrunch’s own view is that spending on this scale has spooked some investors, who fear heavy outlays for thin profit. No term, site, financing, or chip count has been reported for the new deal.
Anyone tracking either IPO should watch where Nscale’s valuation settles, because a final price will show what investors think a $45 billion customer is worth.
